Godzilla #102: C-Rex [Construction guide] by filbarlow Godzilla #102: C-Rex [Construction guide] by filbarlow
I thought you might like to see the shape guide that I sent to the animation studio in Korea along with the main model pack.
I felt that such complex creatures required a breakdown to make sense of the shapes.

Construction in a design is very important to me, especially when being passed through as many hands as hand drawn animation did. This was also given to the story board artists. I prepared a construction guide for every monster in Godzilla.

Anyone else notice how this creature looks so much like the one in Cloverfield? Wonder if someone liked what they saw.

I think the Cloverfield monster had 4 legs, but from what I heard it was inspired from the original Godzilla creatures anyway.

Many thanks! This will come in handy when I'll try to draw the character. :)

Excellent! Did you ever get any feedback from the other studios on this idea? It seems like it would be a very handy resource, especially on some of the more complicated creature designs (like ones with tentacles and multi-joint legs).

Of course it's also very interesting for us to look at. I think construction guides like this would be great reference material for anyone trying to study the monsters' anatomy or do tribute art. I know you already get a lot of requests from the Godzilla fans, but I have to ask, are there any others you might upload? This is fascinating stuff. :)

I'll be uploading all the creature art I have over the next year for all of the shows. I'll keep putting the construction up until people tell me to stop lol
